Exterior Makeover Work on Your Curb Appeal

Exterior Makeover Work on Your Curb Appeal

Does your house look old to you? Does it look a bit shabby and worn out, like a pair of your favourite sweats? It might be perfect on the inside and there is probably nothing wrong with it, but looked from the outside, you should probably make it a bit more inviting, especially if you are looking to sell it in the future. Even if you are not thinking about selling, put some effort to making your home look better, so every time you look at it you feel pride for living there.

Set your eyes on something beautiful

It’s time to be critical: when you look at your house from the street or the driveway, do you like what you see? Can you clearly see the facade, doors, and windows? Is there a lot of ivy or are the tree branches blocking your view? Increase your home’s curb appeal instantly by making it more visible; cut out the branches, and trim the grass and bushes. If you do not believe this will make that much difference, try photographing your home before and after you do it, and see for yourself.

Install a border along the driveway

While this may sound unnecessary, it will give your driveway and elegant look while at the same time preventing people from driving straight into your lawn which further on ruins the grass and created mud puddles when it rains. Elevate the border a bit to protect your lawn, and you can even choose to use border of different colour or texture which could match your facade or even your front door colour; it will certainly point out how much attention you are paying to details.

Protect your walls

Walls are here to protect your interior from exterior elements, but what protects them? Water can penetrate practically any material after a while, sun can dry and damage the paint, when it’s freezing outside, you are sitting in a warm living room, drinking hot tea and watching TV, and your walls ‘suffer’. To protect your walls, help insulate, and make your home exterior look great, exterior wall cladding an option . It does cost more than a coat of paint, but it will protect your home and enhance its street appeal at the same time.

Inviting front door

If your front door stand out from the rest of your home (and not in a good way), you might think about changing that. Add a fresh coat of paint if you have wooden door, clean up glass surfaces if there are any, add a plant on each side of the door, and put a wreath on. Wreaths are not just for Christmas and Halloween, and they can make your guests and potential buyers feel welcome from the first moment.

Windows are the eyes of your home

Needless to say that dirty windows are going to push people away from your home, but they also indicate that you don’t take the effort to take care of your own home properly. Windows should be cleaned from the outside at least twice a year, and not by using old newspapers. For large windows, choose strip applicator that can soak a lot of soapy water, and wipe it away with a squeegee. By doing this, you are also getting rid of static charge which means that there will be less dust collecting on them as well.

It doesn’t matter if you choose to change just a few little things, or you are preparing for an elaborate and complex project which will completely transform your home exterior, by enhancing your home’s appearance, you are raising your chances to sell your property more quickly, and you are also turning it into something you will be happy to lay eyes on every time you pull into your driveway.
