Homemade Scented Drawer Sachets

Need a homemade gift idea? Or are you looking for a way to keep your drawers smelling fresh? Read on for this easy way to make scented drawer sachets which also double up as lovely personal gifts.

You will need:

  • Some breathable / porous cloth.
  • Some fabric glue, a need and thread or a sewing machine
  • Rice
  • Scented oils
  • A cup

  • Method

  • Begin by pouring 2-3 tablespoons of dry rice per sachet into a cup.
  • Squeeze in a couple of drops of the scented oil per tablespoon of rice and give it a good stir. I used an orchid and sweet coconut oil - yum! (Should you wish to make a couple of sachets with different scents, simply pour the dry rice into separate cups and use a different oil per cup.)
  • Put the cup(s) to one side.

  • You will then need to start sewing/gluing your cloth. I bought my cloth from a craft store and it was very inexpensive. You can use an old neck scarf or any leftover material really. You can also get creative with the shape of the sachet (maybe hearts for valentines day or stars for Christmas).
  • Simply take two pieces of cloth in the same shape and glue or sew together three sides or three quarters of the cloth and leave a small opening.

  • Then scoop the scented rice into the sachet and glue or sew the remaining part of the cloth. Your sachet is now ready to be wrapped and gifted or placed in your drawer.
