Paper cutting can make beautiful repeatable shapes. I used some red and white paper and an asymmetric tree design to make a striking handmade Christmas card.

Materials
Blank greetings card
Coloured craft paper
Pencil
Scissors
Craft knife
Glue
Christmas stamp
Stamp pad

Method
Fold your paper in half, then in half again, and then again. Press down each fold with a ruler to make sure it is neat.

Unfold and then refold in a concertina - this is known as an accordion fold.

Draw the asymmetric tree design that will repeat along your paper. You can do this with a ruler, use a template, or simply sketch it free-hand.

Cut out your design with scissors or a craft knife. Depending on the thickness of the paper you may find it easier to use scissors. If quite thick then use a craft knife and go through a couple of layers at a time.

Unfold your paper and neaten any rough edges.

Stick on to the greetings card.
