Up, up and away! Hot air balloons brighten up any children's bedroom or playroom and you can pick fabrics to tie in with any colour theme.
Here's how to make some from ripstop (kite/parachute) fabric and a basket for some interesting textures.
Ripstop fabric is the stuff that kites, parachutes and waterproof jackets are made from. It comes in all sorts of colour and textures - from thick and crinkly to fine and slippery. It is very easy to sew with a machine without pinning or tacking. I buy ripstop fabric from Fabrics n Stuff
. They are based in UK but will ship internationally. They sell bargain remnants in all sorts of colours and textures. You can often buy a lucky dip bag of scraps.
I sewed the thin blue strip onto the pink section and then this piece onto the big blue balloon background
I cut mini balloon baskets out of this big basket
Create different sizes and colours to cover a whole wall.
