Encourage a range of insects and butterflies into your garden by creating some insect boxes. I love these insect boxes set into a old stone doorway in the walled garden at Arlington House.

Each box is stacked with items providing different sized holes and spaces for all sorts of insects to make a home. Try bricks with holes, tubes, pipes, stacks of corrugated board etc. The contrasting shapes and colours stacked in geometric boxes make a really interesting feature in a garden.
