Create a kitchen keepsake of your child's artwork by embroidering drawings onto tea towels, cushions, pillowcases or other soft furnishings.

Embroidered Tea towel with Child's Drawing

To do this, you will need:

Materials

Supplies

Child drawing
Fabric (tea towel, cushion etc)
Embroidery thread
Embroidery needle
Baking paper or tracing paper
Pen
Pins
Scissors

Step 1 Trace over your chosen drawing using baking paper or tracing paper and a pen.

Trace drawing

Step 2 Pin your traced drawing onto your chosen spot on your fabric.

Pin traced drawing in place

Step 3 Use your embroidery needle and thread to back stitch a straight line right along your traced drawing, straight through your pinned baking paper and fabric.

Sew a back stitch straight line

Complete

Step 4 Once finished, tie and cut your loose ends of embroidery thread on the back of your fabric.

Tie loose ends

Step 5 Gently pull away your baking or tracing paper, use tweezers to get little pieces out if necessary.

Pull away baking paper

Done

Using the same technique, you could embroider onto almost any type of fabric, even clothing if you wish.
