If you've got the space and are looking for something really unusual to fill it, check out Antique Church Furnishing's website. Even better, go and visit their warehouse (in Walton-on-Thames, UK) - it's fascinating to climb through the weird and wonderful antique relics.

They are the UK's top trade supplier of church salvage, especially chapel chairs and oak church pews. Their collections of pre-war church furnishings are salvaged from churches across the UK.

Even if you're not interested in buying something, the website is fascinating just to browse. They sell everything from antique brass candlesticks to pews to altar rails, church doors and pulpits.

Prices are very reasonable, starting at around 25 plus VAT for a church chair or 150 plus VAT for a pew. They will ship internationally and can offer bespoke finishing services. They can hire out chairs and pews for weddings and other functions.

A few years ago, I bought six church chapel chairs from the warehouse, which I love. Here are my picks which are currently listed on their website.

The pew, salvaged from Westminster Church, would make a fantastic kitchen table bench or addition to a large hallway. It is priced at 250 plus VAT.

The oak altar box, originally from St Mary's Church in Maiden Newton, has parts which date back to Saxon times (Price 250 plus VAT).

I love church furniture - this is definitely on my list when we finally sell our flat and buy a house.
What a treasure trove!
